Je Smebzok Vrët

Je Smebzok Vrët (/je/ /ˈsmebzok/ [blue] [option]) is a subtropical Town located in the Frömku District of the Federation of Alveria.

The name Je Smebzok Vrët is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Je Smebzok Vrët was founded by Zegadonh Shostret, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Je Smebzok Vrët has a yearly average temperature of 10°C (50°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cold 9°C (48°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 11°C (51°F). Je Smebzok Vrët receives an average of 203 cm/y (79 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Je Smebzok Vrët covers an area of nearly 5 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 2408 m (7900 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Je Smebzok Vrët was founded durring the early 18th century in early winter of the year 1727, by Zegadonh Shostret. The establishment of Je Smebzok Vrët was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Zegadonh Shostret struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Je Smebzok Vrët as a prison colony.

Je Smebzok Vrët was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 18th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Je Smebzok Vrët is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Je Smebzok Vrët is buildings are arranged arround a network of premissive paverstone streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a humble stone fence which is tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. Je Smebzok Vrët's peasent-grade are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Je Smebzok Vrët seems to be abandoned at first. There are people present, working their trades and going about their business like any community, it’s just they are absurdly quiet. Just as you start to think there might be trouble, you see most of them are smiling, quietly exchanging words with a friend, or simply enjoying the day as they work. It reminds you of an evening at home as everyone dined, having run out of things to talk about and embraced the savory meal before them.

Je Smebzok Vrët possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Je Smebzok Vrët has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Je Smebzok Vrët's natural decorations nor waterways.

Je Smebzok Vrët has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Je Smebzok Vrët has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Je Smebzok Vrët's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

In Je Smebzok Vrët sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

Due to a magical anomaly, Je Smebzok Vrët is directly accessible from a nearby river, despite the lack of a physical connection between the town's pond and the river.
